NAPT Celebrates National School Bus Safety Week by Honoring the Professionals Who Keep Students Safe Every Day

?The National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) proudly celebrates National School Bus Safety Week, October 20–24, 2025, by recognizing the dedicated professionals across the country who ensure that the yellow school bus remains the safest mode of transportation for students.
National School Bus Safety Week is a time to shine a light on the transportation directors, drivers, technicians, trainers, and support staff who work tirelessly to protect more than 26 million children every school day. Their leadership, training, and commitment to operational excellence make safety more than a slogan, it's a daily practice.
“Our members are the heartbeat of student transportation,” said NAPT President Teena Mitchell. “Their leadership, expertise, and care ensure a safe ride to and from school. National School Bus Safety Week is an opportunity to celebrate their dedication and remind communities that behind every yellow bus is a team of professionals committed to safety first.”

“National School Bus Safety Week is more than a campaign, it's a celebration of the people who make it possible,” said NAPT Executive Director Molly McGee Hewitt. “Our members are innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders in safety and efficiency. As an association, our goal is to make sure their stories are heard, and this week provides an elevated national platform to do just that. To help share this message, we turn to the students who ride the bus through our National School Bus Safety Poster Contest. The contest gives students the chance to show the world how they see safety in action as part of their lived experiences.”

Each year, NAPT's National School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest engages K–12 students in illustrating what bus safety means to them, helping to instill lifelong awareness through creativity and art. NAPT proudly recognizes Minakshi Chilagani, a student at River Trail Middle School in Georgia, as the 2024 – 25 National Poster Contest Winner. Minakshi's artwork stood out for its originality, design, and a strong safety message. The 2025 – 26 Poster Contest will officially open on November 2, 2025, with the theme “Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes.” NAPT encourages districts to read the contest guidelines at napt.org/postercontest and participate in the upcoming contest when it begins.

As we kick off this year's National School Bus Safety Week, we invite everyone to join in the celebration by using hashtag #NSBSW and #NSBSW2025 and tag us in the online conversation. Together, we can amplify the message that school bus safety starts with people who care deeply about the students they serve.
