Industry Leaders Collaborate to Address Illegal Passing

In early July NAPT® joined our peers at the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) and National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS) on a letter to all US Senators and Members of the House of Representatives – calling on legislators to co-sponsor the STOP for School Buses Act of 2019 (H.R.2218/S.1254), introduced in the House by Congresswomen Jackie Walorski (R-IN) and Julia Brownley (D-CA), and in the Senate by Senators Todd Young (R-IN) and Gary Peters (D-MI).

As NAPT® President Barry Sudduth, CDPT, CSNT mentioned starting back in December 2018, we believe it is vitally important for everyone involved in student transportation to keep a sharp focus on what we do and how we can improve our performance. Finding solutions to illegal passing of school buses—happening thousands of times every day in every community—remains high on our list of priorities.
