  • Friday, May 17: Leadership Training Academy (full day, end by 4pm) 
The Academy will utilize a variety of training modalities including class participation and practice. All attendees will leave with a tool kit of materials to use for reference.

Event Description: Leadership Academies are intensive one-day programs crafted to equip you with skills that you can apply right away. Directors, managers, supervisors, and individuals in leadership roles are encouraged to participate.
 
Managing and supervising employees can be daunting in today’s world. We have one of the most diverse workforces in history, with multi generations, multi cultures and a wide variety of personalities. Creating a positive and reinforcing climate that encourages safety, excellence and a commitment to pupil transportation requires excellent leadership and communication skills. This Academy has been specially designed to empower you to lead and supervise with clarity, fairness, and to create a positive work culture and environment.

In eight hours of intensive workshops, you will:
  • Discover your personal leadership style - what type of a leader are you and how do you lead. 
  • Gain an understanding of emotional intelligence - recognizing how you manage and supervise and what can make you a stronger supervisor.
  • Explore differences in the workforce - this segment will help you to analyze and assess your workforce and create processes to address generational and individual differences. Understand what motivates, demotivates and promotes employee retention.
  • Advance your communication techniques - developing a greater sense for clear communication, improve employee listening and engagement, and how to hold critical conversations.
  • Examine evaluation and employee performance - explore what makes an evaluation or employee performance review successful and six pitfalls to avoid.
  • Discuss best practives in handling difficult employees and situations - whether dealing with safety issues, employee discipline or dismissal, attain how to best handle the situations will have long term impact on the employee and your team. 
  • Build better recruiting, onboarding, training, and retaining skills - what can you do from day one to build a positive and powerful partnership with your employees!
Whether you are a veteran manager and supervisor or are just beginning your leadership journey, this program is for you! You will have the opportunity to network with colleagues as well as interact with your trainers and speakers! This workshop has limited registration in order to maximize its effectiveness!
