What’s Next: Preparing for Tomorrow While Trying to Manage the Current Covid-19 Challenges
School transportation professionals will be faced with enormously consequential decisions and planning challenges to prepare for any services to be provided through the rest of this year and the school opening in the fall of 2020. While a notable number of states have cancelled classes for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, those that haven’t will face unprecedented challenges in protecting their employees, students and the public. Those same challenges will reemerge for all districts in the Fall of 2020. The practices necessary to keep all stakeholders safe while also giving them confidence that services are in fact safe will be a substantial challenge that will likely require significant revisions to policy, operating practices, communications protocols, routing services, and bus management practices. This session will focus on the organizational, operational, and psychological considerations that will need to be included in the decision-making and planning process of school districts across the nation.
