Certification - Special Needs Transportation


The CSNT (Certified in Special Needs Transportation) program was created to encourage individuals involved in school transportation to enhance their knowledge about transporting students with disabilities and promote excellent leadership skills for the community of transportation personnel serving children of all ages with special needs.

CSNT Certification Requirements

  • Completion of all classes listed below
  • Submit an application with 4 professional references
  • Pass an Online Exam with a score of at least 80% ($85 application/exam fee required)
  • Continuous annual membership in NAPT
In order to receive your CSNT, candidates will have to complete 8 classes: 
  • 101 - Student Transportation Orientation (available online)
  • 801 - Transporting Students with Disabilities & Special Needs (available online)
  • 802 - Positioning, Seating & Securing of Students with Disabilities & Special Needs*
  • 803 - Specialized Equipment on the School Bus*
  • 804 - Products, Services & Equipment Options for Transporting Students with Disabilities & Special Needs*
  • 805 - Supporting Safe Behavior on the School Bus for Students with Disabilities & Special Needs*
  • AND one of 202 - Presentation Skills (available online) or 203 Communication Skills for Transportation Professionals (available online) or 204 Team Communication Strategies (available online)
  • AND one of 701 - Intro to Leadership & Management (available online) or 702 - Personal Skills for Managers (available online) or 703 - Personal Skills-Time Management (available online)
